Hosting the Iraq Body Count Exhibit

Would you like to host the Iraq Body Count Exhibt in your town? Here is some information for those interested.

There are three major components of hosting:

(1) Getting the Flags to Your Town.

This usually includes renting a utility van to drive them from where they were hosted last, to your location. Depending on the distance traveled, and gas prices, this cost can vary.

(2) Recruiting Volunteers for Set Up and Take Down.

We recomend aiming for over 100 volunteers to set up and take down the display. This accounts for the fact that most people will only be there for a few hours. If you have around 40-50 people that stay all day (this is tough on the body!) you can get the Exhibit up in one day. But the more people you recruit the easier it will be. Aiming for 200 volunteers is not a bad idea.

(3) Staffing the Table Under the Canopy .

As well as the flags that we provide, there is a canopy that travels with the Exhibit. Your group will need to provide a table and chairs. The purpose of this is to have a place for those interested to find out more and contribute to buying more flags for the D.C. Exhibit. We are trying to make the D.C. Exhibit a 1-1 ratio, representing every person with 1 flag. This will cost about $28,000, and we are hoping to be hosting it there in October. It is important to have a volunteer at the table throughout the day to give out information (brochures, etc.) and be there to collect donations.

The Exhibit is an incredibly powerful event to be a part of, and we really ancourage you to contact us if you have the desire to bring it to your town. It takes a lot of work, but is immensely rewarding.
